Een Magneet “Stafiets” in Indonesië

Indonesië kent meer verzamelaars van ouderwetse Nederlandse fietsen (sepeda onthel) dan ons eigen landje. Iedere stad heeft verzamelaarsclubs, er worden vaak rondritten met oude fietsen in bijpassende kledij georganiseerd en het schijnt dat voor oldtimers een stuk meer betaald wordt dan hier. Af en toe duiken daar prachtige exemplaren op. Hier afgebeeld de kruisframe transportfiets van Pitantik. Het is een “Stafiets” van Magneet.

    You mean this bicycle?

    This is the Wolff Duplex Bicycle from 1896.
    The more common name is ‘Sociable’ bike:

    There is a modern one too, the Buddybike from Taiwan.

    According to Maarten Waarle this bike was invented by Albert H. Weaver of Hamilton, Ontario. The producers were Punnett Cycle Mfg. Co and Fox Machine Co.

    They were build in America, England and France, not in Holland or Germany.
